Volunteer Opportunities We are a non-profit community outreach volunteer program. Our Purpose is to provide care and comfort to the terminally ill, frail elderly and bereaved in our community. For each volunteer position, the applicant receives adequate orientation, training and ongoing education. Their is a volunteer role to fit your needs ! Hospice: An applicant that is interested in providing empathy, compassionate care and support for individuals who are experiencing a life-threatening illness. Duties would include respite care, friendly visitor, transportation. Time commitment is one to two visits a week from 2-4 hours each visit (depending on your availability). Times are flexible (daytime/evening/weekend). A 25-hour training program is required (Classes available throughout the year). Caregiver: An applicant that is interested in providing support and understanding for individuals, who are over the age of 55. Some of the duties might include respite, friendly visitor, transportation, grocery shopping and/or errands, light housekeeping/meals, handyman and yard work. Time commitment is one to two visits a week from 2-4 hours each visit (depending on your availability) and times are flexible (daytime/evening/weekend). A 6-hour training program is required. Bereavement: An applicant that would like to provide support for individuals, who are experiencing a loss through death. Duties may include monthly telephone calls, group facilitation (adult and child), and/or one-on-one assignments. Each applicant will be evaluated on previous experience, education and training. A 6-hour training program is required. Office: An applicant is competent in providing light everyday office work. i.e. answering phones, addressing and stuffing envelopes, and miscellaneous office jobs. Time commitment is one day a week (Monday through Friday) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fund Raiser: Pathways volunteers assist with special events such as our Golf Tournament, Theatre Party and Light Up A Life tree lighting ceremony.
